4th Graders at Fairacres have been learning what it takes to be a leader by studying Leader in Me Habit 1, Be Proactive, and by volunteering to serve as a Morning Greeter! Our greeters are trained in providing a warm welcome to students, staff, and visitors to our school, and it's a job they take seriously.
Between opening doors and friendly greetings, leader Marcy told us, "This makes our dear team stronger. If people have a bad day, a simple 'hello' will make their day a little bit better". Leader Jonathon described what they do by telling us, "We open the door and help kindergarteners get to their class if they forget or if they are late!".
You can also find our leaders stationed at the gate, greeting students as they enter our playground. Leader Ania told us why it's such an important job, "My job is to say good morning to kids. If kids get lost, I take them to their class. Whenever they are sad, we make them happy!".
Fairacres Elementary is a Leader in Me School. Leader in Me is about empowering all children to reach their full potential while ultimately finding their voice.
At this school we believe that:
• Everyone is a leader.
• Everyone has genius.
• Change starts with me.
• We empower students to lead their own learning.
• Educators and families partner to develop the whole person.
Leader in Me provides our school with the vision and language to lead the school in a way that addresses all areas of development. As each child discovers and develops their unique gifts and talents, they are given opportunities to lead. As leaders, they become active, engaged partners in their own education, and their self-confidence, responsibility, and initiative grows. The children quickly understand the benefits of different gifts and talents; they learn to listen to new ideas, work together to achieve results, and motivate one another to be the best.
Thank you, 4th Grade Leaders, for being proactive and having a "can do" attitude about making our school an even more kind place to learn and grow!
